On March 18, 2027, the Birkebeiner race runs from Rena to Lillehammer (54 km). The Birkebeiner race goes back to a tradition from the early 13th century, in which the legendary transfer of a little king's son Håkon Håkonsson in ice and snow contributed to the Birkebeiner's rise to power.
